Who does Google think you are?
Have you ever wondered what data Google has gathered about you in order to power its adverts across the Internet?
If you have a Google account (Gmail, Google+) then you will have already provided Google with some basic information for it to build your demographic – gender, age and language. The rest is inferred from your browsing history, tracked through a special cookie it places on your computer so it can follow you around the web.
You can view the assumptions Google has made in your Google Ads Preferences.
Spooky huh? If its guesses are wrong, you can tweak them on this preferences page.
If you find this all a little too creepy you can opt out of tailored Google Ads across the web. You will still see adverts but they will no longer be tailored to your interests.
