What is Cyber Essentials?
Cyber Essentials is a government-backed scheme that helps organisations protect themselves against the most common cyber threats. It covers five key technical controls:
- Firewalls and internet gateways
- Secure configuration of devices and software
- User access controls and privilege management
- Malware protection
- Security update management (patching)
What makes Cyber Essentials Plus different?
Standard Cyber Essentials is a self-assessment. You answer a questionnaire, your answers are reviewed, and if they meet the standard you receive certification. Cyber Essentials Plus goes significantly further. An independent auditor carries out hands-on technical testing of your systems to verify that your controls are genuinely in place and working as described.
We don’t just advise others on cyber security best practice, we apply it ourselves, and now we have independent confirmation of that.
